The problem is the larger the site gets, which it obviously will, the more it will use up resouces (although I have to be honest and say I dont know how much)and once you have introduced the large limits it hard to then change it to a lower number.
I'm not sure really why people would need to have more than 200 in their inbox! Surely any they feel are that important to be kept for longer could be printed out.
