The answer is DONT EVEN SHOW IT TO ANYONE till you have proper protection in place, and a watertight non disclosure agreement
Sadly everyone you will meet is dishonest at some level , the only question is on what scale - in one case for me it was the VC I approached who ripped me off.
To get proper protection for the idea will cost you around £10-£30K depending on what it is and even then only if you do most of the patent preparation work yourself.
And you cannot even offer it for sale, until the protection is in place.
Just read dysons book if you want to see what unethical b*st*rds you are up against!
If you try to do it yourself you will find it copied in china or taiwan, beyond the range of the law...
And if you try to sell it, quietly behind your back, somebody will rip you off.
A nightmare world that still makes me shudder...
