Theres already a thread about it here...
Those who struggle with the web - Your internet business starts 1st june!
The answer is dan raine, rob somerville and ed dale are very clever guys.
Even their approach to keyword analysis was new and better.
I have no idea what htey intend to do on this years challenge, but I can say last year they were going through steps and stages using unusual web2 properties, and the challengers were getting #5 ranking on google for terms that were getting 100 hits a day within just a matter of hours!
Following their ideas, I created a site in the fiercely competitive diet/recipe world which started selling in a matter of days .....
I think they will shy away from social mediathis year, not because the ideas did not work - they worked too well - sadly some spammers got in on the programme and managed to wreck the relationships with tumblr, netscape, stumble and others to name but a few
The problem is they are trail blazers.
eg Last year... (not in the 30DC) They noticed the power of scribd long before the rest of the internet community, and the net result of their promoting that media - was to lead to an overload that caused scribd to go nofollow
So I doubt if ed will risk that this year, no idea what they will do instead.
It is always entertaining and informative....
I learnt a lot. Not to be missed in my view...
