have you looked at dropshipping instead of buying direct from wholesler this way you don't hold the stock but just advertise the item through e-bay for example and only pay for the item when it's sold so you can hold onto your £1000 without any risk whilst getting experience at buying and selling and also you can gauge what sells better in the marketplace - although you might have to pay a membership fee and the profit might not be as great this way but you'll gain experienc and a lot of wholesalers offer a dropshipping service but there is a thread on here about dropshipping that may help more
