Thats one of those "odd" arrangements you wouldn't guess was possible. For anyone wondering how that all works, if you have two separate business and one is a limited company they are not automatically in the same "VAT group" which means you can have one registered and one not. If they where both sole trades you couldn't do that. NB lots of caveats on this one for people suddenly thinking of dividing their businesses in two artificially - HMRC is way ahead of you!
