when you say 'obviously we are non-profit' do you mean you are a registered charity of a company limited by guarantee, running a social or community enterprise? i.e. What is your official status as far as HMRC is concerned?
I know its not direct to your question, but what you mention just threw up a thought for me in that, just becasue a business does not charge, or does not take a salary, dividend, etc, does not make you what is officially known as a not-for-profit.
Obviously if you are registered as one of the above, then ignore this post! (Not that it wont be useful for someone else reading!) but I dont want people to read and think that if they run a business and dont charge it automatically makes them a legal not-for-profit status business and so 'have nothing to declare'.
