It is impossible to say without knowing your market place or type of customers...
Most "catchy, funny and cute" for the sake of it go straight in the bin where they belong - a lot of money is wasted on promotional gifts.
It needs to send some kind of message, and IMHO be attached to a direct mail letter of the gary halbert dollar letter style.....which then explains the story of why.
Even a little bag of dirt or a teabag can work in the right context!!
The fortune cookie that sends you to a hidden web page only for customers...sounds tacky, but can work in the right situatuion
One of the most successful promotions of all time in converting fortune 500 companies to customers from cold used a small fossil!
Whatever you do must be designed to FORCE an action....eg go back to the website to claims something, or get something - as the start of a direct marketing procedure...
They work better than the long term "keepsake" style gift...
So what business are you in?
