Could be a mix of the above posts, but I had a similar problem with a network shared HP printer which has magically resolved itself (or i'm that good and don't realise). Basically every few weeks it would stop responding to any print requests from the local and network machines, I updated the PC using Windows Update and within those many many updates was a patch for HP printers, so it may be a recommendation also after going through the new drivers from the HP website.
