Guess we'll agree to disagree then. Imo domain name helps - absolutely it's not the
sole determinant, but it just
helps. Why? Two reasons, 1) Google likes relevancy and therefore having the prime keyword in the domain is a small measure of relevancy and 2) because the default link to a website is its domain name, and therefore by just listing its domain name as the link it will have the keyword in it.
But it's also absolutely true that you don't have to have the prime keyword in your domain. Any old search will tell you that. But achieving ranking on an unrelated domain name is, imsnho, what separates the men from the boys, SEO wise.
