Default TAX Advice needed on UK Tax system

    Hi,

I own a chain of retail outlets specialising in ladies clothing. I'm considering a possibility of revamping and modernising the shops as a refurbishment programme and am concerned about the taxation implications of the above proposal and I seek professional advice on this matter.

I would like an analysis, in relation to the refurbishment programme, on how the UK taxation system will provide relief (or no relief) for the various types of likely expenditure which may be incurred and also how these various elements of expenditure will qualify for tax relief.

Any feedback on this matter will be highly valued and appreciated.

    Thanks

I can't believe you own and chain of shops and don't have an accountant to turn to to ask their advice. Not saying an accountant here can't answer of course, just a little surprised.

The answer to this question will need a great deal more information about your business, the amount you plan to spend, and your current tax planning.

Generic information could, in fact, be misleading, so I advise that you sit down with your accountant/tax adviser and get him to explain to you what your options are.

If you dont have one of these, get one. Every business needs one!

You cant get "professional advice" on a forum.

All you can get is a few pointers.

And that pointer is that this is a complex area and you need to take proper advice. Costs may be a mixture of tax deductible and not tax deductible costs depending on exactly what you are doing.

Sounds to me like someone writing a tax essay to me....

I agree. The nature of the question you ask seems to require an answer in the form of an essay.

For this reason I am locking this thread.

As previously mentioned you are requiring professional advice so it is recommended that you visit an accountant.
