Default Transferring data from one MYOB account to another

I have been using MYOB Business Basics for a number of years for my own self employed work, just using it to create invoices.

In January this year I started a Ltd company and am now setting up a new Business Basics account in the name of the new business.

I need to transfer some of the invoices generated in the old account over to the new account. I have 'Exported' the 'Professional Sales' from my old account but when I try to import them to the new account none of the data is imported and I get this message in the Import Log:

0 records imported without errors.
9 records skipped.
0 records imported with warnings.

Error -81: VAT account linked account is missing.

What do I need to do to import these 9 records to the new account?

I would just key them in myself if its 9 of them and the new company is going to receive the payments. Lot quicker than trying to import them!

As an aside, are you sure you want to do that? Its normally easier to leave everything as it is and have the sole trader in 'run off' collecting the old debts etc. This is because the payments will tend to come into the old bank account stated on the invoice or any cheques made out to the sole trader business name so it would be hard to now bank in the company bank account.

Also it might torpedo tax savings on incorporation if you are going down the goodwill on transfer route.

Worth having a good think about, although I appreciate your accountant may well have told you to do transfer it all over in the manner you describe for sound business and tax reasons. Hard to tell on a forum post the nature of what you do and what's sensible as incorporations are always more or an art than a science depending on the result you are trying to get.

anyway hope the first para was useful even if the last couple are just conjecture.

Regards,
