Which form would I use to change the business address?
I see the 287 to change the registered office, but can't find one for the business.

you only need to register the formal change of the registered office. If its just to move trading address, just email or wroite to them liek you would anyone else. Also inform HMRC of same.

Thanks for the quick reply, Indizine!![]()
Just to add, you should expect to have to notify the VAT, corporation tax (or self assessment) and PAYE offices of HMRC separately, as they are all on different systems, bless them.
How fabulous!
Thanks for the information, Peter.
I actually asked because I queried the business address with a client and he said he had no idea why the address was there as he'd never heard of it and it was in a different part of the country! He doesn't seem to have encountered problems in the past - the search was done through Equifax so I guess it may have been a gremlin in the system?
So, given the fact he didn't know and all appears to have been fine, would the course of action be to merely question CH re the address they are holding - if that is the one, would they still need to contact all of the other organisations? (should I just go the normal 'oh, ask your accountant about that' route!)
Equifax is not a Government body, and when paying them to give accurate information, they really should be on the ball! If your clients address details are wrong at Companies House, he/she can and should amend it online.
Your client should take the matter quite seriously with Equifax, as it could harm their business quite severely!
As for Government bodies not working in tandem, I won't even start...just to say that when you move a registered office, don't expect a simple letter or call will have the desired result (Electricity companies, water boards, landlords, and suppliers) can all seem totally hopeless at accepting post should no longer be sent to an old address.
Companies House are only interested in the registered office. If that needs changing, you can use a 287 form.
As for the business address, you would have to contact whoever is showing the wrong address. There is no single, central register of them. If they are getting all the post they expect to get, they might not care about an isolated, rogue address.
If Equifax has your address wrong Peter, I think you would need to worry about it.
Of course, some records of the business address are more important than others.
