    Default Companies House Web Check

    Hi all,

Just done a companies house web check on a Ltd company name I was interested in, and its returned its status as "Active - Proposal to Strike off", does anyone know what this means? I've Google'd it and found a few different explanations, so was hoping someone may be able to give a firm answer?

    Thanks,
    Greg

I beleive it means that it's currently active, but due to one reason or another, it's proposed to be removed from the register

As simple as that then Thanks Khalid.
I guess there's no easy way to find out the reasons behind that?

Striking off is different from dissolution, i think. And less positive.

As I understand it Greg, it is in the stage where the Directors have filled for the company to cease existence but there is a period of time before that happens to allow any creditors to come forward before it is finally struck off completely and available again, providing there are no disputed outstanding issues.

Only concern with taking a previously used name, is you could find yourself getting unwanted contact from the old companies customers/ suppliers.

Sorry, bit pushed for time...hope that makes some sense.
    Think Positive.. be Different!

Thanks for the replies Sandra and John, so essentially the reasoning behind a company being struck off in this way are likely to be more negative than a company being dissolved?

    Thanks,
    Greg

Is there a reason you want this company name specifically?

You could use a business/trading name... such as XYZ Ltd t/as Your Business Name
or you could make a subtle twist such as Your Company Name UK Ltd.

Hi David, thanks for the reply, it's more out of interest as to what that status meant with regards to an asset the company previously held.

    Thanks, Greg
