Sage is the favourite of the accountant, but from a users point of view i'd go with quickbooks, it's simpler more user friendly

QB all the way. I've used both and QB leaves Sage standing in terms of usability...

I'd pick QB myself even after they caused me no end of grief earlier in the year by disabling some backward compatibility.

Sage is not much good for most small clients unless you happen to be a bookkeeping whizz. The interface is in "accounting speak".

Do however ask what packages your accountant will support - some are wedded to Sage and thinks the sun emits a nice glow from the middle hole of the CD rom, often this is because they haven't even looked at the other packages for years and don't realise how backward it is.

Having run both, I would say quick books, much easier for business people to understand, Sage is more geared for accountants. The support charges for Sage I think are extortionate.

I have worked in accounts for 20 years. In a previous job we had Sage installed and I was given 1/2 day training. I found it quite difficult learning some of the simple stuff.

When we started our own company I decided to run Quickbooks and I was pleased I did. it is user friendly, good reports and most of it can be set to your own company requirements.

Make sure you buy the right version, which has all the features you need to run your accounts.

Working with Accountants they do prefer Sage, but most can work with Quickbooks.

    Quickbooks, without a doubt.
