    Default Help Required!

    Hi,

I was hoping if you would point me in the right direction. I would like to start a Travel Agent business and sell airline tickets for PIA, AirBlue, Emirates, Qatar etc in a office. How would I go about doing this?? How would I get hold of those tickets or how would this work?

I would also like this to include a Cargo type business for people who do want to cargo large packages from here to their desired destination. Your help would be much appreciated in this matter!

    Please advise.

    Thanks

I'd try googling "host agencies" -you pay them a fee.Otherwise you will have all the IATA red-tape to get through.

http://www.explorertravel.co.uk/fran...consultant.htm You could try that. I had a look at their homeworker scheme which looks good. I don't have the required experience to be eligible. Online travel is so competitive, I don't think I could make a living out of it anyway. If you have a shop though, it could work.

I spent 25 years in the travel industry. I agree broadly with Benr123 - very difficult to make money out of it.
There are millions doing it (badly) and an few who have mastered the automated sales order process and are leaders (travelbookers, trailfinders, lastminute, opodo, expedia, and lots of niche specialists).
Travelmole is a great website to seek further information.
    The business is volume related.
How can you get customers to buy from you? (And in volumes necessary to make it viable.)
    Who else is doing it?
What unique and difference can you offer, and or bring to the marketplace? ("Different wins every time" Robert Craven, of the Director's Centre, and the book 'Bright Marketing').

ask PIA, air\blue on how to become an appointed travel agent.

You are going to have slog in penetrating the market because you will be competing with estabilshed travel agents within Pakistani community and have to offer something different or really low price, but if its a volume game, then margins are already low.

    Default Travel Office

Airline deals such as with PIA are the bread and butter of the buckets shops.

What % of your business will be trade (other agents without PIA deal), and what part retail. I would think to start 10% trade and 90% retail. What percentage online and what percentage offline?

I would have thought the only area for growth is ONLINE. This involves considerable investment in time and money.

Have you thought of becoming an affiliate first? i.e. for an established payer. This involves you setting up a website, getting agreements with main players, optimizing your site for key search terms (Google Keywords, which is free) and monitoring what responses you get.

My overall impression and response to your initial post is DO NOTHING (until you have empirical evidence i.e. SOLID FACTS of a market for YOU).

Hope this helps. I would appreciate a response from you.

Look and Find in your area where there is a company that is offering a FRANCHISE opportunity like you wanted, they are easy to follow and they will guide you on setting up your business and be prepare for an average capital that they will charge you depending to the company your dealing with
