Erm, Im guessing now the business is launched I need to register as self-employed right? What about the actualy business, does that need registering somewhere?

You should always talk to an accountant to see which structure is best for you. They will save hassle and money in the long run.

If you are going Limited then you have to register the business with Companies House.

You need to register with HMRC within 3 months of going self employed, that said I have written to them 3 times and nothing (now over 3 months!), so will be ringing them next week.

Couldn't agree more! They will charge you £100 if you are late - no excuses.

But I dont understand what I would need an accountant for at this stage? Surely I just fill out the form and register don't I?

I just phoned them up, said I wanted to register as self employed, sole trader, they asked me for an address and company name, what you doing and that was about it.

Laura, if going Sole Trader the paperwork is easy

Call HMRC on 0845 9 15 45 15.

Fill in this form and send off - couldn't be easier

Make sure you become exempt from Class2 NIC's. You will receive an exemption letter within a few days if all goes well.

yes, just call up HMRC on the number given
