As you may know I am going to be having my website re-designed by a proffessional. So that has got me thinking about my business as a whole.
Currently I am only targeting the Witchcraft/Wiccan/Pagan markets, but this is stupid as I want to make money not just have an expensive hobby!
So I want to target the Gift market
It's a large place with lots of competitors so I need an edge, which I may have with my products but my website lets it down.
Soo my questions (You knew they were coming )
What kind of look should I go for, is there any website which you just love because of the way they are designed?
In essence maybe I am looking for some website you lot have as favourites for a guide to what I should do with my own site.
I'm not that design orientated so am struggling a bit on what I want

Hiya....IMHO I think it best to think more of the product rather than the look of the site at this stage. If you have a good product at the right price and people can find you they will buy..I have bought off some truly awful looking websites.

I agree with Chubster - my fav websites are all favourites because I think the products, service and /or delivery so I continue buying from them. The design/style of the site isn't relevant to me really.
However I will say that you need to ensure the navigation is correct on yur site - it needs to be clear to find things and easy to use. I lose interest very quickly in sites I simply can't work.
I think that is a great idea and actually I think you can go into the gift market with your current range of products. I once ran a website called 'Your Magic Wand' and it was based on 'wishes' ie themes: relaxation, sleep, more energy, love etc I had gift boxes in a variety of price ranges for each theme. The products in the gift boxes were things like aromatherapy bath and body products, gemstone bracelets, beeswax candles, handmade incense etc You could do something similar with your exisiting products to appeal to both mainstream and pagan markets.

As you say this market is huge and very competitive, like I found out. But if you keep at it you will soon start todding along.
I'm currently having a new website done, will have to see if it makes a huge difference sales wise even if it does have the same products. One thing I do know is that it will be a lot more SEO friendly than the current one.
I've just been granted the go ahead to spend the money on a new site or a more polished version of what I have at the moment.
Gift wise it would be the same stock I have at the moment. Mainly my spell boxes which are a great and unique product. I was also planning on having some boxed personal Tarot readings or astrology reports.
I was thinking out of the box, and the Witchcraft community is very small with a lot of sameish websites elling the same stuff. So I need to attract a different market in order for my business to survive.

Nickie, is there anywwhere you can do some market research, or people you cna send out a survey to?
Id see this as a psychology thing. People want these products because it is deemed they will bring good luck, or better than what one is getting, good health, prosperity and so on - anything that raises the feel good factor and moreso, gives people hope there is better to be had - if only one had one of those crystal balls, healing candles or whatever!
Therefore, selling the dream, could be the angle you follow to boost your sales.
