Just wondering whether anybody can help me with the legalities of running a business from home? Is it OK just to register with my home address, even though it is owned by my parents.
If it can't be done, what are my alternatives? I don't believe I would have enough budget in the beginning to rent an office, but for anybody who does, what sort of prices should I expect to pay?
As long as your parents are ok with it, it is fine! Should of seen my Mum's house when I was running a business from home at your age....had half her house full of stock!
You will need to check the fine print on the mortgage about regulations of using ther property as a business premises - some forbid this without their consent.

Once you move out of your home your business will seem more like a professional outfit especially if you have clients calling to your home.
On the other side of that coin, don't spend money if you don't need to. If face to face contact in an office is not essential then save on the overheads while you can.
As for the council and the mortgage company, I believe there are times to twist the rules and keep quiet, it is unlikely either will know (or really care) unless you are causing reason for concern. Even Branson ran businesses from his rented home in the early days and had to hide the switchboard etc if there was an inspection!
The only thing you may want to consider if you are holding any stock of any value is insurance.
