If in doubt - trademark.

Seriously, it protects you from having people rip off your identity. So the rule of thumb is, if you put a value on that, trademark it.

You can go somewhere like http://www.uktrademarkregistration.com/ or go straight to http://www.ipo.gov.uk/. the form is fiddly rather than difficult.

It doesn't take a lot of effort. It can cost as little as £200 and you can do it yourself. It's nowhere near as complicated as people make out, partic if you've not got anyone with anything similar, and if someone objects, cross that bridge when you come to it.

Default The IPO

web site provides loads of information. The tricky bit is ensuring that there is nothing similar and also ensuring you register in all the categories and also check worldwide. That is why many use legal services but it is possible to register yourself.
