Default Business advice and help question

Where do you go when you need business advice and help? Who do you turn to if you have a business question? Who have you found to be the greatest help to you?

Personally, I have had 2 business link mentors, I have lots of family members who run businesses, I have spoken to the Princes Trust and been on numerous business advice forums. For me, the greatest help so far has without a doubt been from people I have met via forums- the support I have recieved has been outstanding, and for those whom I am referring to (you know who you are ) I quite simply can not thank you all enough.

So, where did, or do you recieve the best advice from when setting up your business?

Dan Martin is running a poll over yonder on the same thing. Have to say I have been a business advisor, and managed an enterprise aganecy, and deliverd around £5m of business start up programmes over 6 years, helping peole start a new business, and yet I now glean all of my advice and support from the online forums and gererally online from a variety of other sources.

I've been in business for many years now, but I have to say that since I started using Business forums at the end of 2006 my knowledge base has expanded massively.

Apart from professional advice (solicitors and accountants etc) - I get all my answers solely from Forums and online resources as well

Plus, I've made some cracking friends along the way

I have a friend who instead of going to university, opened his own company. He's made misjudgements on the way (who hasn't?) and gladly has an ear for my ideas/thoughts whenever needed. I also ask my Dad, and look to online forum advice where I can

    good question fyp,

i use other successful business people where i can
normally within my fields or as a mentor.

i set up my businesses originally through business link.

to be honest i found getting the right information from
our weekly meetings like getting blood out of a stone.

he was more intent on recruiting me within his business.

online forums are great though as long as you trust the
people that are giving you the advice.

    regards
    steve

And that's the key - which is why we need to build a community based on trustworthy members - like those we already have

well that applies to almost any advice and is the hardest part to determine, especially when your not face to face with someone.

I suppose one has to assemble the evidence and like the law go on probability for the less known elements.

I guess I am lucky in getting people to trust me,as I have a huge great independant score card .

Alvin the only reason any of us trust you is because you wax between your eyebrows. (is it people with unibrows or whose eyes are too close together you can't trust??)

On a serious note, I love getting my advise from business forums, you get a wide range of experiences and views, which you then just sift through and use what feels right to you or best fits your business plan.

If you just use one person to get advise from then you are only getting one view or set of experiences.
