Default What insurances do you need for a pet lodging & sitting service?

Okay, thought you guys could help me out here with some info, particularly PetNanny might have specific answers.

A family member is looking to start a pet sitting type of service in our local area of Doncaster, South Yorkshire. She wants to offer to look after small pets at her home (rabbits, cage birds, reptiles, that sort of thing) and then visit people's homes to feed animals such as dogs, cats, aviary birds, or whatever is onsite at the home and even visit horses/poinies for daily feeds. Dogs may be walked but otherwise the visiting service is onsite only.

Clients would be able to deliver & collect their animals or pay a small mileage fee for them to be collected & returned. Client would provide all food, etc.

What she wants to know is, what insurances would she need to cover her for all of this? There will only be her doing it, so no-one else is involved at this stage. There wont be any staying over at the client property. Will she need a CRB check for the home visits? Is it preferable to only care for dog & cats that are insured or does that not matter?

Can't think of anything else at the moment but please feel free to chip in with anything you think is helpful.

Keep this hidden from Pet Nanny, last time on another forum, she was pulling her hair out with regards to Insurance, not sure if she got it sorted

Ta very much!

I think the insurance PetNanny was sorting out was for her self employed sitters.

This business will operate only with my neice so she wont come up with that problem until she decides to take that route. The main reason for knowing what insurances she needs is so she can research the outlay for start up, as insurance doesnt come cheap and may well be her biggest outlay.
