Default New merchant Account with Barclaycard

We i guess i was pretty excited finally getting my Internet Merchant account, but what do i do now, and i was wondering if anyone here could advise, (if you've done it Yourself?)

I need now to complete a a self assessment questionaire (SAQ) to prove compliance with PCI DSS.

Alot of the questions are a bit confusing to me?? Do i have to complete this or does the company that i'm going with for the payment gateway have to do this??

this is what i read up on the barclays website

    http://www.barclaycard.co.uk/busines...ments/pci-dss/

and the gateway provider i'm going with is

    http://www.eway.co.uk/

So as you can see its pretty complicated, I think its best to host the payment page with the gate way company as opposed to my own server, can anyone advise or perhaps recommend a different gateway service, as well as any help on the SAQ

    what would you recommend??

    Thanks in advanced

    Why not checkout www.keymark-services.co.uk

This is a service I provide and if needed I am willing to advise you mate. Also, as for compliance, if you are taking payment/card details on your site, you need to be compliant, if you are passing them through to a PSP to complete checkout then the PSP needs to be compliant.

    Hi Darren,

I've got you as my number 2 on my list

The eway people are pretty good, they said although they can't tell me what to say in my SAQ (Self assement Questionare) they can advise, once i've sent that back to barclaycard, its all pretty much downhill after that. perhaps i was worrying about nothing??

I had that Keymark services bookmarked from an earlier post, and remember about it after i'd posted the above. The iceing on the cake with eway was no set up fee and only £100 a year for new e businesses which has been the best i've found for some time.

Will keep you in the loop though

    Thanks Darren

The eway people are really super they answered all my questions and told me if i add the eway security seal on my site i get a further £10 off

So no setup fee, and a yearly rate of just £90 a year with transactions being just 20p each.

    http://www.eway.co.uk/small-business...y-pricing.aspx

With around 3 or 4 credit card sales a week and opening up a new area of telephone sales via the virtual terminal, this is by far the best payment processor i've found

Just need to complete the dredded PCI DSS self assesment questionaire and then take off!!

    Hi Gerry

This is mainly for others reading and for the sake of comparison (I like to arm people with choices...) so do bear with me...

The £90 a year sounds cheap compared to my partners solution of £240 BUT...

20p per transaction plus your acquiring banks rates? Seems to start to mount up mate. Keep a close eye on your costs and for comparison, a 1000 transactions would cost you £200 plus £7.50 per month PLUS bank %....compared to £240 fixed for the same number of transactions...

    Comparison over ;-)

If you need anything mate do shout.

Sounds good i wish i was doing 1000 transactions a month, but as a startup i do about 3 or 4 max a week and with each sale about £750 to £1500 then if they charged me a fiver its still a bargain so i guess 20p and what the bank charge its got to be a bargain.

Its not that i can't afford it i could happily pay £50 a month if i had no other option, I'm paying paypal £100's each month, but as in all business, start off small and go for the best value, only time will tell, but they seem decent enough even if i did mistake them for Ebay when they called, I couldn't figure what ebay was doing calling me until ten miniutes into the call, then i reliased it was EWAY!!
