I have a tick box on our checkout form that allows you to opt in or out of promo emails. It is currently left blank by default so the customer has to actually click it to opt in
Are there any rules/laws that says that this must be set so that the user has to opt IN rather than opt out??
For email marketing, the law requires people to 'opt in' - so by default you must leave this tick box blank so people can 'opt in'.
If you're also planning on selling people's data on, you also need an additional 'opt in' box so they can tell you they're happy to receive 3rd party emails.
Also very important that any emails you send out have to include the company name & address (that is quite new law - within last 6 mths I think), and a way for the recipient to unsubscribe from emails.
