Hi, I thought I would drop you a follow up on 3D secure. We implemented it about a month ago and it does not seem to have put people off though purchasing though our site. Out of interest we have just received an email from Protx (our payment provider) stating that as of the 1st July, MasterCard are issuing a rule that all Domestic Maestro cards (formerly Switch) must be processed using 3D Secure!
From the customer point of view, I was annoyed when I first had to setup 3D authentication for my Visa Debit card, but it didn't stop me purchasing the item, and now I'm completely used to it. I think as more and more traders adopt this the resistance from consumers (if any) will dissapate.
I agree, the first time I had to use 3d secure whilst shopping it annoyed me...online shopping is supposed to be quick and easy! Having said that, it doesn't take too long and it's looking as though it's going to be compulsory before too long anyway.
