Little Black Cauldron is catchy I think I have a little shop, that is like delving into a black cauldron full of goodies

I was gobsmacked when I came across a forum thread today (photographers forum) which had mentioned me and put a link in.

And also when I was trying to pick my name to start with it was really hard trying to get something that is more common. i.e. witchcraft etc

IP2 ...do you have a reference for that statement? I would like to read it....

I suggest you not only have both, but use both on different servers...eg use the .com for a blog to use for trafffic baiting in the blogosphere.and social media..

and use the co.uk as your ecommerce site.

You are far more likely to get bookmarked if you have an information site between you and the sales site.

I had a chat with Sandra, as because of my links and DMOZ (I'm one of the lucky few to get on their list) I am going to stay with .com

BUT point the .co.uk to the site. I have three blogs on the go and a forum as well and with the fantastice advice and work Sandra has put into the SEO on my new website I am definatly on track to take over the world by christmas

Don't quite follow you John.?But if you are talking about domain extensions then no they do not influence ranking ,as said by google.

But as far as keyword rich domains are concerned the search engines are taking far to much notice of them in the SERP's and ridiculous little sites are getting top rankings based purely on there domain names.

Sorry John but the name of the game is domain names that attract visitors,Catchy only applies to very large organisations who are brand recognisable.

No one is going to search for "little black cauldrons" but will search for "witchcraft" e.t.c

hence why our 2 week old site can get a No1 for "windfarms explained" just look at the URL

I doubt whether .com or .co.uk will make really make such a huge difference. Switching to .co.uk isn't suddenly going to make the masses come through the door, although yes it might hook people who would rather order from a uk site than wait weeks for some US site to come through with the goods. On the other hand .com has some history (valuable on the web), dmoz, and it's a better tld for eventual growth should the site prove wildly successful and international orders pick up.

I think though for immediate sales it might benefit you more to take a step back and reevaluate your priorities. If it's making money, what admagic & Alvin are saying is pretty sound stuff.
