Testing ecommerce packages

Is it possible to try out the different ecommerce solution locally on an office pc.

My current host does not support mySQL etc under my current package and i want to try creating a shopping cart before commiting to an upgrade.

Sure, I think you can simply download Apache and MYSQL and run them locally.

Once your happy with everything just upgrade (if it's right for you).

you can go to www.testacart.com and play around, or, download something like xampp and install the carts on it.

Thanks everyone.

I'll have a good look at all the option posted and see what route to take.

Just wanted to see which one is easiest to customise the look of it. I guess its all HTML/CSS

Also consider using a CMS for the presentation and an external cart for the ecommerce part.
