I think people forget about construction, building materials. Yes paper , energy efficent bulbs, saving energy this is the firs. How about your office. You can use a lot of materials like bamboo and cork and eco friendly furniture too. This would be Eco busness close to perfect.

My customers tell me if I qualify as 'eco friendly' !!

I use the relevant environmentally friendly solutions and the most energy and water efficient systems I can, so my customers returning or finding me under 'eco carpet cleaning' search terms, tells me they think my business can be defined as eco friendly.

Just found out that they have been nominating me for 2009 Green Guardian Awards in Croydon and Sutton, so far

I am not sure that any business is entirely green, but Eco friendly is a much better term. I like the idea of offsetting emissions with tree planting schemes or buying part of the rainforest but that can be a bit tough for new business's.

I think most businesses if they are creative they could go green and at the same time lower their own costs in the process.

Take invoicing we have recently started emailing invoices which cuts down on postage cost, paper, printing shredding at the customers` end when they need to get rid of those documents. I have to admit this is not always practical for all businesses but if it is possible every little helps.

When it comes to buying new computers we looked at energy efficient computers, they inturn lower our energy bills something that saves us money.

    First,
most of the products I sell I made from 100% recycled plastic but more important these were designed to reduce carbon footprint by being light and easy to send.

In addition some of the new lines are to products to grow veg- at home so that will save carbon footprint of bringing veg- these products are built to last so I am sure it will help to reduce consuming.

To be greener I have no catalogs it is all online- and in unusual case I will burn a cd with all info in for very big retailers or to magazines editors

Could i stick "eco" in front of all my products and bump my prices up 25% ??

What defines how eco friendly a product has to be before discribing itself as Eco ??

Alot of my Aluminium Sheets are probably made using recycled Aluminium, so could i add Eco to my discriptions and bump the price up??

We use an electricity monitor to check usage, to help keep costs down.
We also reuse packaging to save on waste and customer invoices are stored with their online accounts, so they can print them if they want.
Doing all we can to match our green policy.

A business that works purely with green suppliers/affiliates and does as much as is humanly possible to reduce their carbon footprint themselves. I'm personally want to achieve this sooner rather than later.

I've recently joined Ecotricity, I will pay a bit for more electric, but a large portion of my rates will be invested in renewable energies.
