Coming from the driver training industry, there is a strong link between eco-drving techniques, fuel savings and collision reduction.
By implementing a few simple techniques, fleets can make significant fuel and wear&tear savings.
However, by driving economically, you are likely to be driving more safely.
This leads to less collisions, less costs of collisions like repair costs, employee down time, and importantly lower insurance premiums.
Accufleet Driver Training - we offer company driver risk assessments to help firms comply with Health&Safety regs along with fleet driver training.
We are more of an Orange business than a green one. However, we do use very little paper. Our systems are designed to facilitate reduction in paper use, and we like to set an example.
I dont know whether this has much financial impact - that is not the main motivation

Rather depends on your business doesn't it :-)
Yes, it does. Totally. And can end up being a distraction. I think the trick is common sense.
Unless you are in an arena where you can turn it into a key part of your business proposition - such as waste management.

My company has just implemented ISO 14001 Environmental Management System which has been indepedently audited by a UKAS Inspector. This has been a big effort and cost a lot of money - we had to be serious about it. We are in data destruction and recycling. The reward won't come until we get a council contract - many coucils require the ISO. At the moment it seems an expensive move but we feel good we have done it - it will reduce our environmental impact.
Hi Sea.
Perhaps I could ask why you want to be a "green business".
Its about alot more than the bottom line, some may say its a way of life?
My business is not "green", but we all live our lives being aware of the impact we have on the enviroment, on our surroundings.
As Julian said ..."At the moment it seems an expensive move but we feel good we have done it - it will reduce our environmental impact."
Why not start by asking the employees for ways that the company can become more enviromentally aware...
Perhaps run an incentive that helps them to make changes in their own homes, and slowly see how you feel. Then when it comes to making the bigger changes, you will be educated, aware, and in a better position?
Large companies will soon benefit from the Government's mandatory CRC initiative.
Smaller companies, meanwhile, can save money by cutting down on the distance travelled by employees. You're helping the environment and saving money too by cutting down on the miles.
