    Default New 'Green Tourism' Network

We are in the process of establishing a green tourism network in East Kent through our walkersfriend website. Basically we list all our customers which support green tourism on our website (with their permission) and provide them with a laminated A5 card to display their membership of the network. This gives them free publicity and has helped us to develop our green tourism business at very little cost (financially or environmentally!) We currently have over 100 members, and the number is growing steadily.
If there are any businesses in East Kent which would like to join the network, please do let us know. We are planning to further develop and expand the network in 2010 and would be interested in hearing from potential partners.

I know little about the tourism industry in East Kent, but I do know there is a growing interest in 'green tourism', without, at an industry level, much real effort going in.

    so..an interesting project.

Default A long Term Growth Industry

    Hello Paul,

    Thank you for your posting.

All the indicators point to green tourism being a long term growth industry, not just in East Kent, but right accross the UK and beyond. When you consider the cost of fuel and all the other environmental costs, and likely costs from future legislation there is a lot to be said for investment in green tourism. From our experience over the past few years we see many opportunities developing, and long may this continue. We will be expanding beyond East Kent in the not too distant future.

I had quite a bit of involvement in Tourism in 2002/2003. Green was not an issue then, so it shows how the progress is being made.

The tourism here is rural in its nature which creates a lot of traffic and car dependancy, although there are always options if people would just join up their thinking and get together
