Our main offices contain a large area of flat roof and I have for some time now been considering putting solar panels on it, to generate our own electricity to cut costs and do our bit for the environment. While it all sounds good in theory, I wondered if anyone has any experience of doing it and are there any down sides?

ER if the sun don't shine not a lot of power is produced.Not very cost effective at this moment in time ,dependent on your power needs.

Solar water heating is very effective,especially if you have steam powered computers.

LOL... yes I heard that I Samsung (I think) are soon to launch a much more productive solar panel, was waiting to here more on that.
