Default Saving water

Hi folks

I just wondered if anyone knows of a device that allows you to save water from your washing machine and divert it to the garden. We use Eco Balls so waste water from the machine doesn't contain any chemicals. Not sure I'd do this if I'd just done a nappy wash though!

Any advice appreciated - neither my husgand or I are particulary DIY minded so I'm hoping there's something simple we can put in place!

It would be a fairly simple pipework installation, ideally you would need to put in a diverter valve so you can easily switch back to normal waste.

The only slight downside is that you need the washing machine to be above the level of the storage tank, or you will need to pump the waste water into it.

Andy.

I guess if we could build some kind of underground tank this would be easy but yes, the washing machine is at ground level and I don't think the underground tank is an option. Maybe I'll have to just be there ready with a load of buckets each time!!

What, like Pixies?
I could always get one of your lovely dolls houses for them to move into!

As this thread is about saving water, does the plastic bottle filled with sand in the toilet cistern work to save water?
