However as these gases are being released into the atmosphere it is making the situation worse.
Pretty much my view EXCEPT the cynic in me asks why, if emissions are going to kill the world (which is what the more extreme advocates claim), go Governments still allow supermarkets to emit more of them by impoting apples from South Africa, lamb from New Zealand and sprouts from eastern Europe instead of selling locally produced goods?

Ultimately at play hyping things here is a mixture of people wanting to believe in something, money making by 'experts' and consultants and grant grabbing by research bodies. IMO.

I see the hysteria and it has a very Y2K feel to it.

We should really try to cut down on imports as much as possible, as it would not only reduce pollution from the transporting of goods, but also make the economy a lot stronger

If any of you have been to the back ends of the Far East you will probably know how bad things really are. I remeber going to Lahore, Pakistan a few times you could hardly breath with all the fumes coming from Rickshaws etc. It was mental.

I believe India and China are the same, too massive countries in huge development, I doubt they will go Eco Friendly to soon........

And if the big boys keeping pointing fingers at others to do something first nothing wil happen. I believe USA is the largest pollutant, what are they doing, nothing!

Its all ok for these politicians to bark around orders of what should be done, but doing it is a completly different matter. They have all set targets for themselves for the near future, but of course like everything else the results of these will just be fixed to keep everyone happy.

And don't worry we will not drown by rising sea levels due to Global Warming, there's a comet coming this way which will hit us in 2020. Just make the most of the next 12 years.

China is actually a bigger polluter than the US, this is where the argument comes in. Per head the US is miles in front of the rest of the world for pollution but they say China has higher emissions (which it does but pr head they are lower than the US) so it is a circular argument.

The US of course do not want to reduce emissions because it would hurt their already failing economy and China are building up their economy quite quickly, as are India but both nations are doing so by using old industrial methods, which is where the problem started but neither country will halt their economic expansion in order to stop global warming.

It could Fuzzy, mother nature is an amazing thing but only if we stop cutting down rainforests and drastically change how we currently live. I can't see that happening in the near future - well not before the comet hits

Well im going to start doing my little bit to add to my growing list of things to do before the end of the year, hopefully it will be a good year, but something really needs to kick everyone into gear especially the americans who don't want to cut down on their emissions.
