    Smile Carbon Offsetting - How?

    Hello all,

I run a printing business and we produce a lot of waste of which 90% gets recycled.

I have received some mailers and emails about carbon offsetting and being carbon neutral. Does anyone have any advice on costs and how to go about the process?

    Hi Lawson,

I found this site interesting - http://www.coco2.org (At COCO2 we can carbon offset the CO2 emissions from your website, your mobile phones, and your vehicles – three big contributors to global warming.)

You essentially pay to offset the carbon you use through your website, mobile and car.

It costs £6 to offset your website for a year and £1.50 to do the same with your mobile phone.

    Hope this is helpful.

There is a lot of very shallow stuff going on in this arena. The best approach is to actually minimise consumption of poluting stuff. I fly a lot, but do not off set the carbon. But, the airlines who are getting modern planes are reducing consumption by big percentages, which is a good thing, and real.

Hi, Thanks for yours comments. I did genuinely want to try and 'do our bit' with the environmental issues.

The obvious benefits are there but also some of the larger businesses we deal with are looking at being more environmentally responsible and their suppliers (us) have to follow suit if we want to maintain the business.

Any further help on accreditations? and the implementation.

    Lawson,

I work for a company called Utility and Environmental Solutions LTD. We work with the Carbon Trust in order to reduce the environmental impact businesses are having. I don't to mislead anyone on here and admit that I do not offer advice on much on this particular business forum but I am known thorughout many others such as the UKBF and 4Networking.

I can help to identify areas in which you can improve your environmental impact by way of a free review. Not only are you going to benefit from the initital reduction in carbon but you will be able to realise profit by reducing costs on your gas, electric, water, telecommunications as well as your waste.

I am free to be contacted at your own leisure.

All the best with your quest!

Might be worth taking a look at Webex or GoToMeeting (Sorry I cant post links as I'm new to this)

Lots of businesses can benefit from remote workers or collaborative tools like this. Saves you traveling to meetings!
