I think thats a good idea, it must take loads of time and effort to set this forum up.

The thing that was on my mind is : who will be able to access the private section? Join to access seems a bit too effortless. Asking people to pay even if its a small amount to be able to access this area will deter people away and offers us more protection. Ignore me if I don't make any sense.

It is a fine line....whilst wanting to attract members....I would say we want to attract business members......a membership fee will deter those who want to join merely to not partake
This was not my main concern though...however it looks like a win win answer

My view is that the relatively modest cost of setting the forum up has already been re-paid through your support and participation - a Forum is nothing without it's members and activity - and how this place place had taken off in 2 days is just awesome - I can't even begin to tell you how much all your efforts mean to me
So, my thought is not to charge anything for the forseeable future (if ever) as I feel the drive should be to recruit quality and like minded members - without putting any barriers in the way.
That said, taking Kay's point, if we get an influx of members who don't want to partake, or just pimp for business, we can review the situation and perhaps have a fee or password system (the latter by invitation), or maybe a "no access to private until "x" posts have been made" ??
Those are just my thoughts at this stage - but again - this is a democracy so I'm keen to get all points of view.
Thanks to Pete for raising the issue - it's much appreciated
A pleasure chap...It is still my opinion that I would like to contribute financially in any way......my view will not change and if the funds are not used my yourself, then maybe we could make a difference to a 3rd party in a small way

I like the idea of controbuting towards an annual get together though. That measn those who are in it for the long term get something back. It could be kept separate and nothing to do with membership and access.

Wise words Ray.
At this early stage I think it is important to build a quality membership.
This as you say can ,allways be up for review sometime in the future.
So far the forum has had amazing success due to the participation of all the members.
I really doubt if any forum in the history of forums has taken off so well.
If the forum generates significant traffic in the future ,then it will become a valuable property for Ray,both in terms of its capital value and its ability to generate income from various advertising and promotional areas.
I don't know all that thought and typing just to save myself a fiver.
Thats the trouble when you have both ***ish and Scottish blood in one,
blimey I did not know people from Isreal were a swear word.?
