Default Work productivity on a Friday

Not sure whether this is the right place to post this but I find it really hard to focus on a friday afternoon with it being so close to the weekend - hence being on A1.

Does anyone else find their productivity dips on friday? If so what are your tips to combat it?

It just feels like its the weekend already and I want to clock off - how do you guys motivate yourself to keep going until the hometime bell rings?

Any ideas or suggestions on a postcard please!

Thanks

Kim

I think it's the other way round! It's because A1 is available (and Fuzzy usually starts posting jokes late on a Friday afternoon) that I get very little actual work done at all then.

I combat this by trying to leave Friday pm for doing the odd jobs that didn't get done during the week, ie no stress or pressure type jobs.

Doesn't always work though.

I wasn't blaming you Fuzzy! Just waiting for you to get started. Surely the sun is over the yard arm now?

Hi Kim,

If you are anything like me then I would suggest 2 ways to improve your productivity on a Friday afternoon.

1. Next To do List

I never get to finish everything everything off during the week. Impossible. I tend to get the most urgent things done and deadlines met accordingly. Anything that is left is urgent but can wait. Start a to do list for the coming week starting from Monday morning. These are all the tasks you need to carry out either paid or unpaid. It can even involve filing. Pop it on the to do list and you'll be fine.

When Monday morning comes, you don't have to sit there and think "what do I need to accomplish this week?" and spend the morning, if not hours to think of what needs to be done. Friday afternoon and Monday morning = 1 whole working day wasted. Thats 20%.

2. Feel Good Friday

It may be a myth but I firmly believe that people feel good on a Friday. So...everyone who has made a enquiry and have not taken the plunge. Have these been listed? Do you know who these people are? If not then you are missing opportunities. Always chase up on enquiries. Ease them in by asking about their weekend plans and then "btw...have you studied my quote dated __/__/__ ? We should get together sometime to see how we can push that forward..." etc.

This should keep you busy

Hope this helps.

Kay

Hi Kay,

Great ideas, I shall definitely be trying them out. I like making lists and being able to tick things off, so preparing my Monday 'to do' list on Friday should be easy enough for me to do.

Thanks for your input.
