How would the criteria for nomination work? What does 'business of the month' mean? Im not sure that can be measured here.
Well, I use to have Staff of the month award. At staff meetings members voted for one member for something that felt proud of the nominee acheiving within the last month. The one with the most votes won a 5 hours paid time off. Couldn't we do similar? Of course it would have to be moderated , each member nominates another member and a reason why to a Mod, the ones with the most votes, wins a gold star next to avatar and a chance for Company Profile to be made up on them. Would be good for press releases too. Does that make sense ?

Well, why not send as many Christmas ecards as you like for only £5.99, save a fortune, put your company name on the message and be green at the same time

It does make sense, but I guess in the context of a Forum that could only translate to "Member of the Month" - as we don't all deal with each each other, but help can be voted for?
I think there is the basis of an idea there though
oooh me, me, can I have 5 hours paid time off from A1, (I could never last that long away to be honest).
I agree, featured profile of the month sounds good. the only thing is we don't want to make things competitive, this forum is built on friendship and we want to keep it that way.

I'm leaning more towards "featured member" for the same reasons Andy, but it's good we are all chucking ideas in and "thinking out loud" in the thread - all ideas are good and welcome - an online brainstorming session
Im just thinking that not everyone is in a position to help out as much as others, and may feel excluded if somehow they never just make the prize.
Just a story here (related but unrelated!): I remember a girl at work who was always winning the monthly star prize of flowers of choccies for getting the most peeople into work when we ran a job centre contract for long term unemployed. Thing is, when you say, "you better start that job or go to that interview, or im stopping your dole" is bound to work on 7/10 people. Whilst its true they should, some clearly had bad confidence problems and its easier said than done. Sometimes that was appropriate, sometimes not.
Some also had issues that were border line including someone who claimed to work for MI6 and was glad I was stopping his dole for refusing to go to a job because it would bring him to the Governments attention! That caused the adjudication panel a laugh, especially when he said Richard Whiteley was a spy and his coat zip had a camera in it! It sounds funny, but it was also serious in that these people wouldnt last 2 minutes at work.

Just ideas Guys - a featured member of the month might be good though - not a competition

actually thats another good point, I help because I want to not because there is something at the other end like a prize and some people don't want to be featured.
And Indi is right, sometimes people who hide in the background are the real ones who make the difference and others who would love to, for their own reasons can't
If I can offer help in any way shape or form and have time for it, I will do just that without hesitation. I would NEVER do it for a prize, status or to gain a title.
