Personally I think it should be a bit of fun that benefits all. Something as simple as posting why you think your site should get the prize, or why you deserve it. This would need to be submitted privately (to be p[ublished later) to prevent plagiarism. WHAT? we wouldn't copy and steal ideas off each other!!!! Would we ?

my name is petnanny and I run the pet sitting site. I think we deserve to win the prize because we stop people kicking out their pets for 2 weeks a year. Imagine the look on the dear cats face when he jumps to the windowsill looking for his 'mum'... But mum isn't there? OH MY WHERE IS MY MUMMY? she has flown away, and all she left was a single saucer of kittycat. a conscience eased, a cat abandoned.

I suggested the idea of running competitions on "another forum" where people can put up prizes in return for the publicity -

Miserable SOBs didnt respond to two emails on the subject!

One of the sporting forums I have advertised on does this with great success - it attracts a lot of traffic and interest

On that forum the one putting up the prize - has the right to send a single email promotion to any that enter the competition which is the quid pro quo of the prize.

Id be up for that.

I would put up a prize of a serious DVD course on copywriting - with a copy critique or website review thrown in


RayB I reckon it is worth doing this on a regular basis...a competition of the week( or maybe 2)

I may consider throwing in a website comnp. However having done my fair share of judging, I would need to use a set of strict criteria that was not based on any emotional attachment (ie why im worthy, polls on fave's, etc).

The only charirites I give to are for cancer research (direct debit!) and the infirm elderly (via my voluntary work) so this would be strictly business.

James, in my line of work you cannot allow your site to become stale. Our areas covered pages do not show well on google, and they are the pages they I am constantly working on, and use A1 for tips (when I understand them ). We are also mindful that we have slipped three places recently, so I am trying to get my home page updated also.

This thread was rather tongue in cheek, but I have received great help from Ray, and truth be told, there are people out there that need help more than we do!
