I've just joined, but the rules and regs have proved a real turn-off. I understand anti-spam measures, and rewarding people for contributing to the forums, but the balance doesn't feel quite right. New members need to be welcomed to the forums, rather than discriminated against for being "newbies".
I also think that putting pressure on people to achieve a certain number of posts is likely to dilute the quality of information on the forums. The temptation is there to contribute anywhere and everywhere, regardless of whether it interests me, to get my post count up.
When you say discrimination against newbies, do you mean by the restrictions on posting and access?
If its at all possible to think of a way to allow genuine new members to post away freely, unrestricted, whilst stopping spammers and advertisers in their tracks, then we would be glad to hear of it, and the restrictins would be lifted im sure.

Sorry I disgaree with you. These rules have to be in place. At the end of the day you are not charged to use this forum and spam is a big problem on forums. I do think its necessary to "award" regular posters and if people are here to actually use the forum as it was intended (which is to get and give advice) then there should be no problem in getting the post count up before you are able to add in the content you like. If people are here purely to promote their sites then that doesn't benefit anyone except themselves.
