Just to change the topic completely saracen how have you found BE to work with? What are your views on the expansion of the company, especially when it takes off in England?
1. " how have i found BE to work with"
Do you mean the directors or running the business. ?
2. my views on expansion
A - Im all for the company expanding as its to the benefit of all involved. i,e, buying power, house hold name etc.. However BE is an extremely well known brand in my neck of the woods, likewise in the Lothians. My shop has been established since 1999 although i've only been involved since August 07.
Many independent outlets and other brand named business in the same sector have failed to the might of BE.
Im confident people throughout the country will see BE in the media very soon for brand awareness altho it wont dilute viewers with deals, it doesnt have to as our products sell themselves.
B - BE is rapidly expanding in England. There are outlets already up and running throughout England and a substantial amount signed up.
Not forgetting Ireland, one started up and passing people liked what they saw and wanted one - so now there are 3 in Ireland with more on the horizon.
To my knowledge BE is the fastest growing franchise available. Its a genuine business with genuine in demand products AND with genuine directors who are on the front line helping their franchisees achieve their dream of running a successful business.

The business side of things - are you achieving targets that you set yourself and have you considered opening another store?
Personally I dont have a business plan set out on paper, i dont need one tbh as i know where im going. My journey is planned in my head and its achieving my goals prior to dates i had set out. I do fill in a diary everyday which i find a great source of info. I recored everything - including the weather.
( Thats another tip - the weather plays a massive part in our trade.)
In this trade keep on top of the important fundamentals at ALL times, cleanliness, product variety, well trained staff and customer service.
When you start Billy will give you a 10 commandment poster. Absort what its saying as its true to every word. Pin it up where your staff can see it.
Another huge tip is recruit the best staff you possibly can. They are also the life blood of growing your business. Give them responibility as that way they will push your business harder. I have fantastic staff, i only work 2 days a week. My set up is running like a well oiled machine.
The directors will give you all the tools and advice you need, bottom line is its up to the franchisee to work them. However they are always available if you have a question etc and will bend over backwards to assist you to the best of their ability but they are not in possession of a magic wand. ( now that would be nice, 50 mill in my bank account please )
Regarding taking another outlet, i have secured Peebles but there is no appropriate unit vacant meantime. They are as rare as hens teeth.

Robin will keep you on the right tracks. Yes keep in touch, anything i can help you with feel free to ask.
I was in the BE in St Andrews today with the family and the sandwiches were excellent and much cheaper than Subway!!
The products are excellent, there is no doubt about that and yes, value for money, we dont over charge !
Before i was involved with the company my family used to treat ourselves regularly at our local outlet. Back then i would never imagined i'd be the owner of a very popular store - the saying of " you never know whats round the corner " is so true
I would be a little bit careful with Subway because I read and heard so many things about it. It looks like a great opportunity for buying a franchise but it doesn't always work. Subway filed for bankruptcy in Austria for example and had some problems in Germany as well. Just be sure to take care if you decide to become a Subway franchisee.
