Thats pretty much the idea. Franchising is providing the right to use a proven business model which has been tested through pilot schemes to be profitable and usually comes with backup and support of the franchisor to give the best chance of success. I've been involved in the franchise industry for over 6 years now and in that time I've come across one or two rogue operations but on the whole if you do your home work, speak to existing franchisees and check them out with the British Franchise Association before parting with any franchisee fee you will pretty much elimate the possiblity of picking up a bad one. Any business entails risk though so like any thing its not fool proof.
