Default Where will you be in 5 years?...

Hi everyone,

This is just a general one really as I'm often asked as a business owner where I see myself and my company in 5 years time....

I believe many people often think of where they envisage themselves or their company being within a certin time frame but never actually set this as their goal and determine how they plan to achieve it.

The most frequent answer I seem to hear is 'retired and on a beach somewhere warm' but obviously it would be nice to know how everyone on here plans to develop their business / career...

For example do you plan to stay a small company as Peter Jones states 'a lifestyle business' or work your way to a position within a company that your comfortable with... or do you envisage growing your business to become an global giant or work your way up the company your working for?

Chris

Hey Chris.

The plan for me is to be living in Macedonia in a nice villa by the sea...Failing that perhaps Italy or the south of France, just depends on what I can afford, to rent, or to buy.

Not a lazy rich type of life, but a comfortable relaxed one.
What will you be doing?

Still running my business, my wife running hers, but both remotely. This was the plan when we moved back from California a year ago, and so far we are on track.

I used to hate that question in job interviews! :blushing:

I am a very, very quick learner - I love knowing about new stuff and so my job as a VA is brilliant because I get to learn about all sorts of different businesses.

I don't think I'd want to tie myself down to XYZ route in 5 years, although I do think it is very important to have a plan, a route and some tough (but not impossible!) goals.

I certainly have annual, quarterly and monthly goals though! :thumbup1:

Better off but still chained to a PC, laptop or blackberry for 12 hours a day I reckon!

The business I started at the end of June should have picked up full momentum by then and should be bringing in great returns. So in 5 years I see the big house - maybe a few of them in various locations around the world. Married with 2 kids, working my business on a part-time basis and doing a lot of travelling.

I plan to still be working as a Virtual Assistant (because I really enjoy it) but with a sea view...

So far so good - I've already found someone I can rely on to handle the "Derby office" when the time comes!

Default The Italain job

I quite fancy living in Italy. I would still be in the Italian translation business and maybe have a go at teaching English.

At the same time I would try and set myself up for retirement and get into gardening a bit more.
