    Remote gambling machine.- Costs

    Hi

Please tell me the costs of running a remote (like internet)
    gambling machines in uk.
I'm little confused by the gamblingcommission.gov.uk
so i'd like see it more clearly.

    I'm interested in two cases:
    1) I make my own gambling software and run it by myself.
    2) I buy custom made software from other company and run it by myself.

    Please advice.

    Hi Rotor

You'll need to get some form of legal help over this as the gambling commission is very clear as to what it expects from companies overing gambling.

Penalties can be quite severe if you don't follow their guidelines and you could be seen to be acting illegally (scamming) if you don't follow the correct procedure.

Firstly are you sure you want to go down this route?? after all there are hundreds of companies out there, multi million pound companies who offer all manner of gambling, be it poker, casino or bingo. They have invested millions on their online presence, do you really think that you can compete??

The gambling commision is very clear what it expects from this line of business, for starters there is the technical expectations shown below

    The technical standards cover:
    • customer account information
    • displaying transactions
    • rules, game descriptions and the likelihood of winning
    • time-critical events
    • result determination
    • result determination for play-for-fun games
    • generation of random outcomes
    • auto-play functionality
    • skill and chance games with auto-play
    • interrupted gambling
    • limiting collusion/cheating
    • financial limits
    • time requirements
    • responsible product design
and then thers the sercuity issue and this covers

The security requirements are based on international information security standards and are summarised in the technical standards document. A full version of the security requirements can be obtained in paper format.
The security requirements detail information security standards with the aim of ensuring that operators have appropriate controls in place so that customers are not exposed to unnecessary risks when choosing to participate in remote gambling.

    The requirements apply to:
    • electronic systems that record, store, process, share, transmit or retrieve sensitive customer information - for example, credit/debit card details, authentication information, customer account balances
    • electronic systems that generate, transmit, or process random numbers used to determine the outcome of games or virtual events
    • electronic systems that store results or the current state of a customer’s gamble
    • points of entry to and exit from the above systems (other systems that are able to communicate directly with core critical systems)
    • communication networks that transmit sensitive customer information
All in all you will need a fair amount of money to even get to these standards, you'll need some form of guarantee that you have thousands in prize money and that theres provisions for more.

I think if you don't understand the requirements as required by law then you will need to get some form of legal advice concerning this.

I buy custom made software from other company and run it by myself.
Not sure what you mean by this?, there far too much to take on board, than to just buy software and run it yourself.

If you still want to get one foot on the gambling scene, then your best bet would be some form of affiliate scheme where you promote the gambling site and you get a percentage of the members cash input, or a percentage for them joining.

Even if you had your own software, you'd still have to promote it so the above method might work for you better as well as saving you ££££££'s

    Good Luck
