Last year I went through of phase of buying sites and/or domains.
Most of them were a waste of time and money but this one I really like! I'm pleased I've finally got it up and running again after an ongoing issue with a datacentre. It is an ajax image hosting site.
Now as it stands it is in it's first format. It is very simple. I know it will never compete with the biggy image hosts like imageshake and photobucket but I like it and think it could easily be much more.
For version 1.1 what kind of things do you think should be included? One thing I know I need to look at is that as it is an Ajax site I need to cater for those who have their javascript disabled for any reason.
It was getting well used before I had to take it down and would like to see it being so again.
It is a bit of a hobby project but thoughts on how to improve it for the next release and how to get more people to use it warmly received!
We used PhotoStore for a stock photography website, but they also produced the following, Photo Host http://www.ktools.net/photohost/index.php which has everything you could need. I know you have an Ajax written app, but might be worth considering this, if you are planning on going further with it. Or you could do something like MegaUpload does, they charge for advertising, but also provide options for larger files to be uploaded and downloaded only by payment, but as you are utilising photographs, you might want to contact the media or paps as they might need to store photos for downloading by the newspapers?
