Default Online Advertising

I am interested to know, having heard that some insurance companies, are pulling out of affiliate advertising, if the nature of online advertising is or will be changing.

We have search engines, ppc, adsense and so, and wonder if they have come to the end of their natural life.

Not an expert, but very interested in people's views.

I can't understand how companies got suckered in to allowing their
products and services to be displayed on comparison sites, all it's doing is
driving their own prices down and creating a price war against each other.
I suppose they thought they have to be on them as their competitors are.

I believe by linking to others sites you could be giving away potential customers, why have a checkout and a link elsewhere?

That's how the customers want to shop though - it's better to give a better service than drop the price.

I don't really see the online market place changing too dramatically. I imagine that we'll see less display advertising, more affiliate and PPC, then less PPC as it get's more expensive.

I do imagine we'll see less offline and more online. DM is starting to work less after all.
