How on earth can you continue to provide a 100% service when the 1st class post does not arrive until approx 1 - 2pm!
I remember as a lad the 1st post used to be on the doorstep before my dad left for work....what has happened, and how can the Royal Mail continue to charge a premium for 1st class mail with a shocking servce likethis
anybody else suffer the same poor service...I for one am considering saving myself a few pence and only using 2nd class from now on

I have a friend who just joined the Royal Mail as a postman and they don't leave the depot until 11.00am to start deliveries, but he said more often than not it is midday before they get out of the depot. pretty bad!

Hmmmm - difficult logistical problem to solve?
Nope - they could just leave earlier like they used to
I use a PO Box number which means I have to collect the post fom the sorting office each day (or pay extra). This is only 5 mins walk away and I enjoy the short stroll.
I used to get there at 8.30am but now they're not ready till 9.15am. Apparently this is because Royal Mail have rescheduled the times their vans bring over the mail from the head sorting office (in our case Birmingham, about 25 miles away). The postmen can't now get out on their deliveries until an hour later than they used to and each round now has to cover a bigger area.
It's all about Royal Mail cost savings, or so they tell me.
I have to say our local postmen (all men) are a good bunch, very friendly and helpful. Perhaps that's because we're a small market town where everyone knows everyone else.
