Default car selling website - interested in your thoughts

Looking to set up a website, that sells car.

One of the USP, is that it will have a in built, insurance comparison function.

Also would be looking for adseller to post a video of the car.

If anyone has an contacts in the motor trade, or a price comparison website, i would appreciate you putting them in my direction.

    Regards
    Glenn

A tough one I'd say Glenn. Lot's of competition. The vids could be good but could also put people off if they think adding an add might be complicated. Good luck with it though.

With the credit crunch kicking in I'd say the market will be huge

The market for selling may be huge but will the market for buying?

Like the idea of video's and insurance comparisons but would be very wary buying something so costly over the net.

Glen as already said you are entering a very tough one.

best go for niche areas like"cheap car insurance" and go for geaographical SERP's.

Unless you have big money at your disposal you won't be able to compete on the popular keywords. So do very carefull keyword research to find a niche market you can attack.

I used to have N05 on google for "cars for sale" untill google decided I was not meeting there terms and conditions.

    A lesson I won't forget.

    Default clarifying

Sorry, i wont be selling cars personally, it will be a website, where people can post an car ad for free. To get cars moving, i will tell people to do a video, im sure a sale would go quicker.

Revenues will be from use of insurance price comparision, and car loan comparison.

I understood this. I still think it's a very tough market with some huge budget competitors.

Only thing is with the comparison stuff autotrader already do it

    eg.

Loan comparison, Insurance quotes,Vechile Check, reviews all on the one page.

But the idea of videos I think is a good one though.

I'm going to play devils advocate here. Why have a video to display a static object?

Vid on the web isn't high quality. I'd rather see great high quality images.

I agree video isn't always of the highest quality but neither are the images. But there are some good ones out there.

As for a video to display a static object if its of a good quality I think you could get a better idea of how good the car is eg quality of paint work, if it has any swirls, webs when the sun gleams on the car. If the engine is running and there is sound you can hear how well it sounds. Things like that.
