What do you expect from a designer/design company?...
Hello,
Hoping you can help me.
We are still revamping our website at present. Over the next few weeks, I want to concentrate on the copy and getting our marketing message right first time. It started with our top web banner for A1
I know many of you have used our services and have given great testimonials to back that up. This has been appreciated !!
What I want to know is this :
What do you expect from a designer?? .....either have hired one before or not sure whether to hire a pro to do the job.
Example : one client of ours have said "I thought it would be hugely costly to hire a pro such as yourselves but it turned out to be very affordable and the impact it has made to us as a company has been remarkable..."
Another have said "I felt really bad about asking for all these changes to be done but the team at Calibre Designs welcomed everything I had to give. I felt welcomed to voice my thoughts. They really meant - unlimited design revisions - and I was comfortable with this all the way..."
I'd expect:
a personal service, friendly staff, meeting of deadlines, willingness to listen to my input, job completed on budget (i.e. no extras on invoice)....
I think 1st and foremost is I expect great communications....It is afterall as a direct result of good or bad comms that the final result hinges upon
I think I would further expect to be grilled (no horse radish sauce) as to what it was I was seeking to achieve by the process
I would also expect a 'rough' mock up to confirm direction and purpose and then to be kept abreast of the design process.....If everybody is like me I think of extra things 'on the hoof' that I would possibly require inclusion
I think once sign off approaches, to give a warm cuddly feeling I would also like to be in the knowledge that you were approachable to assist with any last minute or over thought provisions....i changed my mind and dont like that there, can we please move it.....now this may be FOC or at a small cost, but is is nice to know that once payment has been made that you are still approachable
YES - I want the world
p.s AND what Danielle has said

An absolute essential is an idea of what is required to complete a design brief (articles on what to provide and if possible links to the actual document)
You could turn this to your advantage - ask for it to be submitted for review/quote - or to capture further info about the site reader.
An outline of the process (timelines for the average job or split into site size)
CV/Portfolio

I am a designer myself but I ask all my clients the same thing, most say after care and good service, some cheapy ones say discounts for returning for more work

Running a design company myself I always insist on treating the client as I would want the client to treat me. In essence someone that you would want to work with again.
Keeping to the time element is essential for Fuzzy, being honest and communicating well is paramount

Well, why not send as many Christmas ecards as you like for only £5.99, save a fortune, put your company name on the message and be green at the same time

ouch, that must be hard for you Fuzz, especially on the website front.
Me, I want my designer to see inside my head. I know what I want and I need them to extract it from me.
Thanks Trishy , not anymore as Jee & Gareth are on the case
