Confused?! What Happened
at 9pm last night as I had 27 hits on my website
 which took the grand total up to 68 yesterday, I haven't seen that kind of activity for months!!  Did try to do some investigating but couldn't find out who, where, why or when. Pity they didn't buy anything, story of my life

 My site stats say 68 and Google Analytics say 35

Without seeing anything, that sounds to me like 35 Unique Visitors and 68 Visits. They could have been returning visits or spiders/bots.

Thats not uncommon....I often see far lower figures from analytics than local site stats say indicated...
Indeed I have had considerably more sign ups on one site in a day than analytics said I had visitors for the period!! Go figure! So I reckon analytics figures are always low side. BTW I missed the fact that you have analytics installed because it is inserted in the middle of the html page. No idea whether it makes any difference, but google instructions with the legacy script was to put it at the top after body tags, and with the replacement script was to put it before the </body>... I notice also that another of your monitoring scripts lies outside the <html> tags altogether... Anyway... Surely you can trace the traffic burst using analytics traffic sources? For web advertising, it is well worth using a tracking url in place of the url to your homepage, and for "non web" it is worth registering other domains which redirect to your main domain that allow the non web ads to be tracked.

Somebody else installed google analytics and statcounter (I forgot I had statcounter
) And then EKM have their own statistics log. Soo confusing they all say differnet things.Statcounter says 209 Page loads, 39 Unique visitors, 33 First time visitors & 6 Returning visitors.
