Have you ever had someone who keeps calling your mobile but doesn;t leave a message?

I have had that for the last three days.

I get there phone number registered on my phone but they don;t leave a message.

So today I had a brain wave and entered their phone number into Google.

Guess what. It told me who they were! An insurance company obviously trying to sell me more cover.

I'm not saying it works for all numbers but it might help you find out who's call you missed!

I was a bit annoyed with a call I got last week; I will follow up and make a complaint when I get a minute.

The lady opens the call with "Hi my name is xxxx and im ringing form the police". I knew this didnt even sound like a copper so I had to then actually ask questions about who she worked for and eventually she admitted she was ringing on behalf of them for a community police calendar type of thing.

As you can imagine, when you have 2 teenagers and you get a call saying "this is the police" your initial split-second thought is about what could be wrong. I thought it was out of order to mislead me, and it took several questions of probing to get it out of her as she wasnt gonna freely say they were a company sellin advertising space.

My favourite when I get the morgage companies on the phone asking me if I have considered changing my morgage is that I asnwer. Which one? The one in Columbia or the one in Moscow? Conversation tends to end fairly quickly after that.

I had exactly the same thing a few years back - a guy was ringing me up saying that he is working on behalf of the police fire and rescue services and that they have a annual magazine and asked if I would like to buy advertising space for £100 one-off payment so i agreed and the advert was set up and the payment made - i received a complimentary copy of the magazine and there it was my advert in the middle - I can;t but somehow think that it was a scam because a few weeks later he rang me back and requested me to send the magazine back to him and I didnt receive 1 hit to my website....

These people selling advertising space in police and fire service magazines/calendars/diaries have a track record of being a nuisance, and they are hard to get rid of.

I client company ended up with a junior member of staff inadvertantly agreeing to buy some. I advised them just not to send any copy. they still got billed, but after some stiff conversations did not have to pay the invoice.

I do that quite often with missed calls. I dial 1471 and Google whoever comes up

I had a very rude 3 sales call the other day.
Dont tell anyone but my mobile contract runs out soon.

As usual you get all the normal phone calls e.t.c from other companies who can beat the price.

3 tripled my texts and messages. All for the same price. But they didnt offer me a windows mobile device, a must for me.

So He's there trying to pressure me. I said look mate, let see what T-mobile will offer me.

He rambles on some more about some nokia pda wannabe they have. I said again, look mate I want to check out what t-mobile have first ok?

he slams the phone down.

I've heard 3 are crap, in terms of service, and I can see why
