    Default Importing From China

    Hello UKSBF, I’m Sean

I’m currently in the process of starting up a small company with a friend. We will be importing inflatable balls from china. On Monday we hope to make our first payment to one of our suppliers for a range of samples. The samples will come in by air freight but once fully up and running we hope to use sea freight.

The representative has asked us to pay by T/T and at out request has sent a proforma although it has a different companies name on it. He said they use a different account for taking sample payment and the company on the invoice often deal with there foreign affairs. So far everything has seemed above board and the they have been very helpful.

I was wondering what other peoples experiences of importing from China have been, what we should expect, any problems that may arise and signs of dodgy suppliers?

A different company for samples? That sounds unusual, but maybe its a salesman trying to make a few dollars with samples?

yeah, how did you get on...must be scary going into something like that for the first time....but as long as you know the score and cover all bases, I am sure it is OK....best of luck with your venture.
